Tips For Strengthening Your Relationship During The COVID-19 Lockdown

April 23, 2020

Hello readers! It has been a while since I’ve written a post on here. It’s about time that I do.

This pandemic is tough! You may have seen me write about Michael’s Dad, Joe on my Facebook Page, who has COVID-19. Joe is on a ventilator since April 7th, he’s been doing better and we are just patiently waiting for the point of extubation and ventilator liberation.

I also ask all of you to please keep Joe in your thoughts and pray for his recovery.

Here are a few things you can do (and what Michael and I do) and tips for strengthening your relationship during COVID-19 Lockdown :

  1. Continue to communicate.
We continue to try to communicate openly about how we feel and what we want. It is easy to shut down during this pandemic.
  2. Continue to Plan Date Nights and Find Ways to Make it Special.
We have movie nights, game nights, and date nights.
  3. Spend time apart.
This is probably hard to do. But doing your own thing is considered time apart.
  4. Keep your sense of humor.
This might the hard to do, but injecting humor and keeping things light at times is helpful. Michael and I share endless memes and videos.
  5. Do things indoors you don’t really get to do.
We focus on doing the things we’ve wanted to do indoors together but never made the time to do. We’ve baked and cooked more meals together than before. We’ve watched a lot of the shows catching dust on that Netflix list that we’ve planned to watch together like Ozark.
  6. Disconnect.
Turn off your phone. We are all on our phones much more these days, trying to stay connected. It is important that we disconnect from our phones and spend time with our partners and those around us.
