Single Guy Self Love on Valentine’s Day

February 4, 2018

Here comes the onslaught of pink and hearts and chocolates. Oh yay…

Valentines Day is coming and if your like me and single with not even potential baes on the horizon, you have some percentage of indifference, annoyance, or loneliness.

So as a single person, how do I feel about Valentines day? 60% indifferent, 10% miserable, 5% annoyed, 25% rooting for everyone else’s love and relationships.

My indifference is so high because I’ve actually never been in a relationship for V-day. My luck. (That and the fact that I’m a man and the day isn’t marketed for men.) Its pretty much like a holiday for a religion I don’t practice. Just another day. Go to work, come home watch YouTube, play games, etc. Take that advice and apply in to the hobbies you do that you enjoy. If anything have a little thing with other single friends you may have but not some public girls/guys night to spite the day. That’s just unnecessary levels of bitter and looks desperate.

So what do you do for V-Day as a single person? Well part of that comes from what you do around the other 364 days of the year. Enjoying your own company or the company of friends, being comfortable with doing things and not answering to people. But also to look inwardly and be self aware to the issues you may have that may or may not be deal breaker issues in your dating life. Working on loving who you are as a person and where you stand in life should be paramount before bringing someone in that you must care for.

  • Rikki I’m sure my advice might not help coming from a girl, but whenever I’m single I always make someone my valentine anyway! Even if it’s my dad or my nephew. We’ll have candy or chocolate or donuts. I’ll try and hangout with some single friends too and just have a game night or something. It can feel a little lonely on v day but it doesn’t have to! Love isn’t just for couples:)
