Why Do Women Make a Big Deal About Valentine’s Day?

Okay. So I’ve been asked this many times “Why Do Women Make a Big Deal About Valentine’s Day?”and to be honest I just roll my eyes. So first making Valentine’s day something important in your life is not a bad thing. Single or in a Relationship I have made Valentine’s Day a day for celebration. I’m either out for drinks with friends, enjoying other people’s candy at work, or with my significant other enjoying life. I make just as much of a big deal on Super Bowl Sunday, National Pizza Day, Margarita Day and Cinco De Mayo.

But here are possible reasons women make a big deal out of Valentine’s Day.

  1. The Media. The media makes a big deal out of it. I’m writing this on the 3rd of February, 10 AM EST and I’ve seen 15 Valentine’s Day related ads.
  2. The Environment. What Supermarket or Pharmacy doesn’t have red and pink everywhere? Once the Superbowl is over that tiny area will be filled with red and pink too.
  3. Social Media. Not only is social media also filled with ads, on the day of Valentine’s Day all our friends will be posting what they got, and so on so there’s some pressure on some people to do the same.
  4. Parent’s Relationships. For some of us we saw or parents and grandparents, and other older extended family members being all lovey dovey on Valentine’s Day. So we then in fact want the same for ourselves. Sometimes we get flowers, cards and chocolate from our parents on Valentine’s Day so therefore we expect something from the person we’re starting our lives with.

So those are just my answers to that question. Do you have any other reasons? Are you a fan of Valentine’s Day?
